How It’s Made

Every Customresintable begins with the wood and the details you choose. From arranging the slabs to preparing the finished table for delivery, each stage helps turn your approved design into a table ready for everyday use.

Here’s a closer look at how we make our custom wood and epoxy resin tables.

Customresintable

Step 1: Layout & Design

We begin by arranging kiln-dried wood slabs around your approved dimensions and design. The grain, live edges, and spacing between the slabs help determine the shape of the resin river and the overall balance of the tabletop.

We adjust the layout to bring out the wood’s character while keeping your table’s size, shape, and intended use in mind.

Step 2: Cutting & Edge Preparation

The slabs are trimmed to suit the design, and loose bark, decayed wood, and weak material are removed. Brushes and hand tools help clean the contours of the live edges without unnecessarily changing their natural shape.

This preparation leaves sound wood for the resin to bond to and removes debris that could become trapped in the pour.

Step 3: Sealing & Mold Preparation

We seal the exposed wood surfaces that will meet the resin to help reduce air escaping from the wood during pouring.

The slabs are then positioned and secured in a custom mold. We seal the joints, prepare the mold surfaces for release, and check that everything is level before the main pour.

Step 4: Resin Mixing & Air Removal

The resin and hardener are measured and mixed according to the requirements of the resin system. Pigments are added for your selected color or effect, with careful mixing to distribute them evenly.

Air removal is managed before pouring. Where appropriate for the resin being used, vacuum degassing helps reduce trapped bubbles. Working time and temperature are monitored throughout preparation.

Step 5: Pouring & Pattern Work

We pour the resin carefully around the prepared slabs, using a pour depth suited to the resin and tabletop design. Deeper sections may require multiple pours, with each stage timed for a proper bond.

For swirl or other patterned designs, we work the pigments by hand as the resin thickens. This is where the color and movement of your tabletop begin to take shape.

Step 6: Curing & Demolding

The tabletop stays level and protected while the resin cures. Timing depends on the resin formulation, pour depth, and workshop conditions.

Once the casting has reached the required strength for handling, we carefully remove the mold. We allow any further curing needed before machining and finishing, rather than treating a surface that feels hard as ready for every next step.

Step 7: Flattening & Sanding

We flatten the tabletop so the wood and resin sit flush, forming one continuous surface.

Sanding then progresses from coarser to finer abrasives, removing machining marks and refining the surface for the selected finish. We also work along the edges and corners so the table feels comfortable where your hands and arms naturally rest.

Step 8: Surface Finishing

The tabletop receives the finish selected for your order. Depending on the finish, this may involve polishing, applying protective coatings, or additional surface preparation between applications.

The process brings out the wood grain and resin detail while creating the intended sheen. We give the finish the drying or curing time it needs before final inspection and packing.

Step 9: Final Inspection & Protective Crating

Before packing, we check the tabletop’s dimensions, surface, edges, and any supplied base components against the approved design.

The table is then protected with materials suited to its size and shape, including cushioning, surface wrapping, and edge protection. A reinforced wooden crate helps keep the components secure during freight transport and reduces the risk of damage on the way to your space.
